The Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), one of the busiest airports in the world, is now undergoing a multi-billion modernization program including the $1.6-Billion Midfield Satellite Concourse.
The 750,000-square-foot Midfield Satellite Concourse will feature 12 new aircraft gates, new taxiway/taxilanes, a new baggage system, shops and restaurants. It is designed as an extension of the Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT) located at the west side of the airfield and will connect passengers via an underground tunnel.
Construction is scheduled to finish by 2019 with the new enhanced airport systems, small businesses, additional terminal flexibility, and modern facilities for the billions of travellers going in and out of LAX.
PDC’s scope of work included the 3D BIM modelling and shop detailing of 13,000 tons of structural steel of the airport’s concourse, aircraft gateways, and utilitidor underground tunnel for passengers connected to the Tom Bradley International Terminal.
